News emerges that Tv’s sweetheart Caroline Flack has passed away. Suicide. So Shocking. So Sad. So Unnecessary. She was clearly troubled in ways that not even those closest to her will ever know. Mental health is still such a hidden illness, and often so easily masked by those living with it. If only it were visible. Perhaps then people will stop contributing to, or being a cause of other peoples' distress. And when physical illness can threaten the lives of so many who fight with everything they have to keep alive on this planet, it is still hard to think that someone chooses to end it. Messages to be kind have been filling our media. Why does it take such tragedy before the world learns from it?

With a husband working in football and two obsessed fans in my dad and brother, this brings unity on a Saturday to one and all, no matter the miles or time zones across the country or the globe! I had planned this weekend with my med school best pal and her family in Sussex and glad to have a spare weekend to see them before they travel to Australia on holiday. My brother has decided to leave Hong Kong, thank goodness, while there are still a few flights, but he’s going to San Francisco to stay with close friends before considering his onward plans to uk. Well at least he’s going as far away from Asia as he can get right now! No matter that he is bypassing us. I imagine if this virus travels west it will get to us before it gets to USA the way the trend is anticipated to go, but unfortunately air travel means it can fly over anywhere and plant itself anywhere without hopping onto other territory in between! I’m beginning to think that the whole world needs to rethink its general behaviour and movement if this thing is what what they say it. Suddenly the freedom we are privileged to have is something of a vehicle in spreading worldwide disease...
