And take a look at the conversations also being had with the amazing people I have had the privilege of talking to:
-Dr Paul Polyvios, NHS doctor in anaesthetics, and founder of "A Doctor's View", a podcast series aimed at discussing everyday topics in health, fitness, and mental wellbeing, and providing an insight into medical life and its challenges, including work related stress and burnout. And all from a doctor's perspective. What's not to learn from that?! Follow Dr Polyvios' excellent podcast series at www.buzzsprout.com/342848 and follow him on instagram @adoctorsview
-Dr Anjalee Perera, founder of The Disillusioned Medic, and her Real Reflective Practice livestream series, and blogger. A former practising doctor, Anjalee left clinical practice to take her wealth of knowledge and experience to help coach others in the medical profession who may be struggling to adjust/thrive/continue in their chosen medical field, and explore the reasons for the struggles, and encourage them to explore their options both in the profession and beyond, without judgement. Follow her on instagram @disillusionedmedic
-Dr Radha Modgil-Doctor, broadcaster, advisor, tireless campaigner for wellbeing, and all things kind! More at www.drradha.co.uk. You can also hear Radha on Radio 1, and you can follow/hear/watch all the incredible work that she does on her instagram @dr_radha and twitter @DrRadhaModgil
-The Happiness Algorithm: founder James Roast, the host with the most, is a must listen of his excellent programme and series. Broadcast on Phoenix 98 FM, this is a series that brings conversations, insights, experience, and knowledge, from so many brilliant guests. Listen to them all here and follow him on instagram@james_roast_ and twitter @james_roast_
-Minderful: "It's time to change the way we look after our minds." An important mantra that we should all pay attention to, as said so well by the Minderful team, Nick, James, and Ed, who have experience and passion or making our mental health better, and show that it can be done in many small ways. Listen to the Minderful Podcast here for "1 minute Mental Fitness", a daily podcast of bitesize audio clips that will help anyone find it easy to look after their minds, especially in these ever busier lives that we lead! (And you'll find 1 minute from me #151 July 1st 2021 !) Check out the Minderful website for more at www.minderful.com
Podcasts are a great way to listen in to great conversations on topics of interest to you, and you are guaranteed to come away thinking about something you learned from them.
Have a listen to this:
The Nuffield Trust Podcast from 09.03.2018: How can the NHS become a millennial friendly employer?
An excellent round table discussion amongst a solid and varied panel, about what the NHS can do to attract and enthuse, and hold onto young doctors but applies to retaining all healthcare professionals: this raises vital issues in understanding the problems, and embracing the quest to address the need for positive progression in raising morale, reducing burnout, and retaining our precious NHS workforce. We are indeed privileged to be in this profession-but our patients need the best of us too. It must be remembered that we too are people behind the title of "Doctor", "Nurse", "Healthcare Professional", and a change in culture is most certainly needed by our employers to look at the needs of its workforce in order for them to deliver the best possible work that they are employed to do, without sacrificing their own physical and mental well-being. Let us unite to go beyond talking about the solutions, and now move quickly to action them!
Music is the perfect way to unwind and escape to another place...Whatever your taste in music, you can do with it what you choose, and whatever mood you're in.
Try closing your eyes and just drifting with the sounds of your favourite tunes. Or allow it to enhance your activities-you can play it in the background as you work, or exercise, or meditate, or doing your chores! Or why not release some energy and sing along at the top of your voice, or just get up and dance-whatever works for you!
Here are some ideas for tunes to help you keep calm:
Islands-Essential Einaudi by Ludovico Einaudi 2011 Album
Senzo by Abdallah Ibrahim 2008 Album

Audiobooks: a great way to "read" books when you are on the go, commuting to work by care or on train, or when walking, sitting in the garden, doing household chores, or sitting quietly at home or in bed!
